Don’t do this ladies and gentlemen. Don’t make me hunt you down and find you. Bring a nice rain jacket or something. More horrifying is that she was posing for a picture at this time.
Oh what a lovely day in Italy, I think I’m just going to sunbathe barefoot on a bench just outside of Venice.
St Marks Basilica in Venice has some of the most amazing mosaic work that I have ever seen in my entire life. The entire ceiling inside is tiled with hundreds of life sized figures. It is amazing.
Venetian Mask. This one is super elaborate and, if I remember correctly, cost several hundred euros. The masks are made and decorated by hand and go from about 10 euros up. And they are all beautiful. Its a centuries old tradition of making a wearing mask, they are generally worn during Carnival (Mardi Gras) and were made to hide who the wearer was so they could act freely. Some only cover the eyes while some cover the entire face. Now they are more touristy but they are still steeped in tradition and are extremely high quality and made by artist who dedicate their lives to the craft.
A glass menagerie of sorts in Venice. While Murano is actually where the glass is made (an island just off Venice, in the Venetian Lagoon), it is still known as ‘Venetian Glass’.
ps look at those sheep. I totally got one as a Glasgow/Venice souvenir. I bought mine in Murano though.
The carousel horses in Florence. Which my Courtney’s friend insisted was called a ferris wheel. We made fun of him.
